Press Reviews

Goetz Spielmann follows his superb 2008 thriller Revanche with this carefully constructed and beautifully acted tale of two very different sisters brought together when their aging father falls seriously ill.

A beautifully played and impeccably lit and composed high-quality family drama.

(...) This is prime arthouse fare that should appeal to not only festivals but also distributors of classy upscale features, especially in Europe but also stateside.

Götz Spielmann’s “October November” might be the quietest drama of 2013, an intimate, somber study of one family’s unsaid truths.

(...) It is beautifully shot, well-acted by all (especially by Waldstätten, Strauss, and Simonischek), and filled with strong dialogue and a real sense of place.

Spielmann is one of the most successful contemporary Austrian filmmakers.

He became internationally famous in 2008 for his film Revanche, which was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign-Language Film. This film appears to be a spare drama, a character study about families with issues, with the backdrop of gorgeous scenery.
